WELCOME TO THE 2022 UNITED DERBY
Come Fly Away on a planes and Pegasus themed United Derby, as we welcome horses, riders and spectators from around the world to this mainstay of the South African equestrian calendar.
Brave horses, impossible fences, the glitz and glamour of the riding world set against the fierce completion for the ultimate prize in SA Showjumping, the title of Derby winner. This incomparable event takes place from the 5th to the 9th of October at Kyalami Equestrian Park.
We are absolutely delighted to welcome back everyone after a few years of change, and we can’t wait to see you at what is most-assuredly going to be a spectacular event!
Helicopters, a gorgeous vendor village, entertainment, parties, delectable treats, Derby merchandise (we can’t wait!) and our beautiful and brave horses all back in the arena’s again!
This year will also be live-streamed for those out of town, so there is just no excuse to miss this world class event!

Length of the course: 1 000m
- The first jump is 1,5m high.
- The widest oxer is 1,7m wide.
- The highest jump on the course is the wall (16) at 1,65m
- The bank is over 2m high.
Anne-Marie Esslinger is the only Course Designer who has ridden the SA Derby track, and won it twice (not when building!). Usually a CD is appointed for a 3 year period. Previous Course Designers have all been top SA officials.
